Jeep WK Quadra-Drive II, Popping Differential Noises
Переглядів 1,5 тис.2 роки тому
When moving in 4-Low, I would often hear a mysterious popping sound, though the Jeep performed as expected. Once I traced the sound to the rear differential, I wondered if a cure was as easy as fresh fluids. So far the answer is yes. Plenty of fluid drained out when opened up and it didn't look in bad shape... but I'm the Jeep's fifth owner and have no idea when the gear oil was last changed.

Hey Ian I got a question about those Method wheels for the WK. How do you like em? I was thinking of having my factory wheels redone (corrosion under the clear coat) but might buy those if the resto price is too high. Do they balance well?
Can't comment on balancing... I've just never thought of wheels a balance variable. Otherwise though I love em! Looks are great IMO and price is OK.
@@IanJefferys OK got another question for you Ian. I did some figuring and called the guys at Method. So it seems that the tires will stick out an extra inch due to the 25 mm offset vs the standard 50 mm offset, which puts it pretty close to the edge of the fenders. Mine is not lifted but it is leveled. So the front is higher than OEM by about 19 mm or 3/4". I am using 245/70-17 tires so they are narrower than yours. Did you have any rubbing problems due to the wider stance?
Я преклоняюсь перед создателями этого шедевра))) Спасибо ❤. I warship this game and it’s creators) thx a lot and all the best. Thx 4 upload
Freespace is still the best CP game ever made
I still love this game, it shows what can be achieved if you're not trying to push an agenda or drive customers to keep buying more and more DLCs, and all the game writers/voice actors/mission planners/ etc etc wanted to do was make the best game they possibly could. It's still SUCH a shame they never made a third instalment so all the stories could be tied up, but in the end I guess it just proves the old saying of "always leave the audience wanting more". Thanks for this, great memories of an all time classic game
do you notice any drone at highway speeds? this exhaust sounds best to me
overall I like it, but there definitely is some drone, particularly around 2000rpm (slower than highway speed). On the highway it's not too bad but definitely louder than stock at cruise. I was surprised how loud it was overall when I first installed it, since this is supposedly a milder option for the car, but I've grown to really like it! It sounds great to me when driving hard--very satisfying vs the stock sound.
RIP volition. From this masterpiece to saints row reboot...
Ever Perfect with admiral Petrarch & Aken Bosch ♥
This is what games w🎉ere in the 90s. We peeked. 😅
Seeing "17 years ago" beneath this video hurts me.
It worked?
Yup! Worked great
Nice!!
The guy with the xj 1 thing to have a lifted rig and 1 thing how to use it
You can download it now and mod it and get so much stuff now.
The Battle Deneb was problably the most heated engagement that happened off-screen in the game. Basically the GTA and PVN tried to pincer the Lucifer and destroy it with Harbinger bombs launched by Ursa bombers, which were the only weapons that could even scratch the Lucifer's hull beyond it's nigh-impenetrable shield and so they succeeded in disabling one out of the five reactors, but it was overall too slow as the SD Eva jumped in, which later we do hunt down in the campaign (that said there's inconsistency between FS1 and FS2 on the Eva's timeline).

Does this disable ABS and brake lights like it does on the XV generation?

That Quadra-Drive on that wk is a really great invention , It should be zero slip it some maintaince
That looks like a fun spot to practice flying!
Great video guys and awesome Jeeps! ❤
love the shit talk lmao
When Freespace2 came out, it won " Game of the Year for its cinematics and game play. When my niece's husband visited, he would literally take over my computer system, and do "all nighters." It was a really cool game on the ancient Intel Pentium III system.
A true masterpiece...
What lift does the wk jeep have ?
2" OME
@@IanJefferys struts and springs are both ome?
Wow, one of the earliest YT uploads and one of the few games I can still replay without even noticing whilst playing that the graphics are quite poor compared back to when I played this in 99. This applies to FS1 too. 2 great games; as somebody else said too, a game which was more than a game. People think of 'The Last of Us' and 'The Witcher' as iconic examples of gameplay being art etc, FS1 and FS2 are right up there except the editors were probably in nappies when this game was released. I'm 35, so not exactly at end of life so I'm not sure why this game is so so underrated!
X mode actually got me stuck today... at foot of a snow covered hill. I exited x mode shut off tc and rugged it. Each up shift I downshifted. Eventually spun my way over the hill..
What is that cracking sound the wk makes??
It's the rear diff needing a fluid change. Check out my recent vid, I show the difference after service.
@@IanJefferys thanks for the reply. So what is happening inside the diff to make that sound?..just watch you video...thanks so much
@@johanbester4484 When the oil in the differential breaks down over time, the locking mechanism no longer functions correctly. My guess is slipping clutches, but I'm not entirely sure of the process. Fresh correct fluid restores proper function...service interval is about 15,000 miles if i recall.
@@IanJefferys question...I am in South Africa in the Wester Cape area. The place I have is a farm and the one 20 hectares is just like sea sand. Very loose. When will you use low range??
Lol the subs: Admiral pet rock
This is how it starts. Yesterday I looked up the intro, today this is in my recommended. Tomorrow I'll spend two hours figuring out how to get Freespace 1 running on windows 10.
Thanks for the info about WK skid plates - been looking for a long time! Any leads/suggestions for front/rear bumpers? Need better approach and departure angles. I have an ’07 JGC with 3.0l diesel, QD2, 265/70R17 tires, JBA UCA, JCR sliders, six monkeys tire carrier, GDE tune, 2” OME springs/shocks lift. It is a train on four wheels!!
Nice. I haven't done bumpers yet and don't have anything specific on my wishlist. I'd like a rear bumper though.
@@IanJefferys i will post if i find one!
I miss this game every day I wish for a third as our numbers dwindle
Great game.... shit it's been so long.... Gaming has come a long way, but no Freespace 3.
Huh all the times I've played this game I never really noticed that crashed wreck on the planet looks a lot like the GTA hades' aft section.
I'm not 100% sure but I think it IS, in fact, The Hades.
This was a great game. I also loved, and miss Independence War 1 & 2. Now all we get is garbage, killing arena's for high scores and worthless steam achievements. Lifeless games stuck in Early Access for over a decade they call "sandbox", which feed on the additive nature of grinding and leveling, AI's spawn around you just so you can kill them. But still, deep inside, we all have that longing of a return to the ingenuity in game development that used to exist.
Chilling intro. But I have to say I liked the voice over of the trailer better (same lines, just a different voice)
recycled voice from the ancients in FS1 in the trailer, this voice is different because its speaking for a different people
Depressing, but in the long run, the outcome is the same: we won the war, and we will return to the "blue planet" in the distant future. Also, it keeps the Shivans mysterious. Wouldn't want them to become like the Reapers from Mass Effect, who lost their sense of mystery come the third game.
I know that they succeeded in returning home. It's the matter of when and how they did that should stay ambiguous.
...I think of the Shivans here as being impressed by Aken Bosch's pleas to just leave humanity (and to a lesser extent the Vasudans) alone that they accept going back to their home galaxy (or perhaps universe) so to just leave them be for many, many long years to come... and after that, they'll return to finally test the mettle of these super-evolving races.
A hero in the first war who'd seen to its end, and now, a martyr in the end of the second war. What a fitting bookends for the FreeSpace games as a whole, even with the constant want for a third and maybe even final game.
Godspeed, you magnificent bastard and, as implied, the GTA and GTI loyalist legend designated Alpha 1 during the Hades Rebellion as shown from Silent Threat (especially the Reborn fan remake).
Creepy, yet somehow positively ambiguous enough to mean that the Shivans truly have no ill will against him.
Arguably a good leader who leads a force of dissension and chaos so to make a great positive change in return... sounds like Lelouch Lamperouge from Code Geass and Rose Quartz from Steven Universe, I might add.
If there's three fictional characters that I associate with the whimsy artist known as Hieronymus Bosch, it's this magnificent son of a gun, some surprisingly nice and tolerant magic school principal named Hieronymus Bump, and some three-eyed jerk of a witch girl named Boscha
It's fitting that the admiral is named after Hieronymous Bosch, because much like the artist's work, in the end, Aken Bosch leaves us with more questions than answers.
@@christopherwall2121 Genius Bonus in a nutshell, that.
A great ship, but alas, like the Old Jedi Order during the last years of the Republic in Star Wars, was only made with the intention to fight another first Great War. Suffice to say, though she fought valiantly in the second war, she died in a mind-shattering fashion.
